Stump Grinding & Removal in Castle Rock, CO
Old stumps are eyesores, tripping hazards, and magnets for termites and decay. Our professional stump grinding service eliminates them completely — grinding 6-12 inches below grade so you can replant, re-sod, or landscape over the spot.
Below-Grade Grinding
We grind stumps 6-12 inches below the soil surface, ensuring no regrowth and allowing you to cover the area with topsoil, sod, or new plantings.
Any Size Stump
From small ornamental stumps to massive cottonwood bases, our commercial grinders handle any diameter efficiently.
Clean Backfill
After grinding, we backfill the hole with the wood chips produced. These decompose naturally and enrich the soil. Want topsoil instead? We can arrange that too.
Surface Root Grinding
We can also grind visible surface roots that are damaging sidewalks, driveways, or foundations — restoring safe, flat surfaces.
Stump Grinding — Common Questions
How deep do you grind stumps?
We grind 6-12 inches below the surface, which is sufficient for re-sodding or planting over the area. Deeper grinding is available if you're installing hardscape.
Will the stump grow back?
No. Grinding destroys the growth plate below the soil surface. Some root suckers may appear temporarily but can be easily managed and will die off.
What happens to the wood chips?
We use the chips to backfill the hole. Leftover chips can be spread as mulch or we can haul them away — your choice.
